Rockets 1998 MVP
Kevin Willis gets my vote as MVP of the Houston Rockets for the 1998 season. The way he stepped up and filled the HUGE hole that was left when Hakeem had the knee surgery was amazing and unexpected. The only game Willis missed all season was from suspension for coming onto the court during the Hakeem/McDyess fight. He added intensity and more importantly he fit the Rocket system. I realize that Drexler had a good year, a higher scoring average than Willis, and besides Hakeem is the team's leader, but Willis did what he had to when the team needed it most. Now as of June 9th, I find out that the IDIOT Rockets have traded him to Toronto for Roy Rogers and two first round draft picks. Wow, the Rockets have NO sense of loyalty. Willis liked playing here. He took less money to play here, and he fit our team so well. Why couldn't we have gotten rid of Barkley. First Otis Thorpe now Kevin Willis. When will the madness end?
*(There's not a whole lot to say about this one. Except that Willis is just the type of player the Rockets were missing in '99. He brought intensity and played all out each night.)
